Reserves win local derby (2-3)

Barça Atlètic have beaten local rivals Sabadell 2-3 thanks to a goal from Soriano and two from Nolito during the second half. Despite trailing from the first half, the reserves reacted well after the break and fought back for a victory.

The Barça reserves, coached by Luis Enrique, stay in second place in the second division table 9 points behind leaders Sant Andreu, who they beat last week 2-1.

An early setback

2010-02-21_PARTIDO_10.JPGBarça struggled to hold Sabadell in the first half and an early goal from Joel (min.8) encouraged the home side to sit back and defend their advantage. For Barça, Nolito and Soriano both had a chance to equalize.

The reserves looked for a goal at all times but failed to break down the home team’s defensive wall.

Second half revival

2010-02-21_PARTIDO_12.JPGLuis Enrique brought on Vázquez and Muniesa after the break to help move the ball more rapidly.

The reserves gradually fought their way back into the game and their constant attacks got their reward after 52 minutes when Soriano equalized.

Sabadell took control against after the equalizer but failed to create any clear chances.

However, Barça reacted well to the renewed pressure from Sabadell and two goals from Nolito (mins. 85 and 91) swung the match decisively in the reserves’ favour. There was still time for Sabadell to pull one back, leaving the score line at 2-3
