Defeat in the Mini (1-2)

Edgar Fornós

Barça Atlètic have dropped their first points of the season at the Miniestadi, losing to Dènia by the odd goal in three.

Barça Atlètic succumbed by two goals to one against the Alicante based Dènia. Two minutes after missing a penalty, the visitors took the lead through Huete in the 26th minute. Dani then added a second before Gai grabbed a consolation goal for Barcelona in stoppage time.

First half sending off

QM3D8515.jpgBarça controlled the early throes of the game, and in the eighth minute Goran Maric came frustratingly close to scoring from a header. Dènia barely created any danger for goalkeeper Miño, but the face of the game changed after 26 minutes when the referee showed a red card to Víctor Sánchez for handling the ball in the area and pointed at the spot. Miño saved the penalty but two minutes later Denia went ahead, and the home side failed to find any kind of reaction as the half drew to a close.

Gai’s first goal in Division 2B

Luis Enrique still managed to dominate the second half, but following a defensive mix-up involving Córcoles and Barça stopper Ruben Miño, Dani pounced to convert Denia’s second. Gai, minutes after coming on for Nolito, scored in injury time, but it was too late to avoid home defeat.
