Barça B’s excellent form continues. They showed all their talent and effectiveness to make it 18 goals in 4 matches in a game that came close to being suspended given the huge amount of rain that fell today on the Miniestadi. Both Dos Santos and Soriano scored in the first half hour and it was plain sailing from there on for Luis Enrique’s side. The four goals make them the highest scoring team in the second division.

Classy midfield

Although the game went ahead, Barça B soon realised that they were going to have to adapt their game against a Nàstic side that prefers the kind of long ball approach that is so much better suited to this kind of surface. Yet the midfield still managed to dominate the possession and got the ball into the creative zone time and time again. Without doing too much to impress, they had gone a goal up after 16 minutes when Jonathan dos Santos found the target with the first serious attack of the game

Loyal to their style

2011-03-12_FCB_B_-_GIMNASTIC_DE_TARRAGONA_001.jpgThe reserves didn’t stop battling, and were soon enjoying an extended lead. Thiago played a corner to the near post, and Jonathan Soriano put the ball in the back of the net in the 33rd minute. The 2-0 scoreline served as further inspiration, and the visitors already seemed resigned to defeat. Keeper Rubén Pérez kept them in it until the break, but could do nothing to stop Jonathan dos Santos getting the third from outside the area just after the restart.

Number four

Jonathan Soriano then made it four from the penalty spot to extend his record tally for Barça B in the second division, and also become the division’s top scorer with 19 goals. That was the end of the story in the Mini, with only Barcelona likely to score any more under the furious rain. Not even the rather harsh red card shown to Muniesa was going to unnerve the home side, who could go home happy after a well deserved victory.
