Eusebio: “We will show the same pride against Espanyol that we showed tonight”.

Eusebio Sacristán was satisfied with the performance his players put in against Girona on Monday night, highlighting the “pride” they showed which helped them through despite the obvious lack of fitness due to very little preparation time.
Despite coming into the game without much chance to train with his quickly put together squad,
Eusebio saw his team put in an impressive game to beat Girona in the Catalan Cup semis and qualify
for the final against Espanyol. According to Eusebio, the way the team came back from a goal down
was due to: “the way the players had internalised and made automatic the skills they learn at
the Club –that’s what makes this place so special. These players already know how
things work and the dynamic of the Club”.
Final against Espanyol
Barça’s next objective is the final against Espanyol and Eusebio knows that it won’t be an easy game: “Espanyol are a strong team, but we will try and show the same pride we showed tonight. The excitement and motivation of the young players has been key to reaching the final”.
Eusebio went on to stress how important the game was for his young charges: “it’s an impressive game for the young players. Winning this match is a great motivation for them to win this title and what’s more against a team like Espanyol. We put in a big effort, but the excitement that the players feel gives us a big chance”.
Martí Riverola
“The tiredness is building up, but we are happy with the win and getting through to the final”.
“Tonight was the first time we had ever played together. It was not easy and we found it hard to begin with, but we got it together”.
