Five goals, five times

Roger Bogunyà

FC Barcelona have hit five goals in five different matches this season. Panathinaikos (5-1), Ceuta (5-1), Sevilla (5-0) and Madrid (5-0) all suffered the same way as Real Sociedad. Here is some more trivia from the match.

► A year ago, the team had scored five goals or more three times, against Atlético Madrid (5-2), Zaragoza (6-1) and Cultural Leonesa (5-0).

► Two seasons agao, Barça had done the same as this season: 1-6 at Gijón, 0-5 in Basel, 5-0 against Almeria, 6-0 against Valladolid and 2-5 at Sporting Lisbon.

► Messi scored his fifth brace this league season and his seventh in all competitions. His other victims have been Sevilla (Super cup) and Almeria (League), where he got two hat-tricks, plus two against Panathinaikos (Champions League), Zaragoza, Sevilla and Osasuna (all in the League).

► Against Real, FC Barcelona broke a team record of 1001 passes, 896 of which were good.

► Abidal and Puyol, with 11 and 10 recoveries each topped FCB in that category. Alves was the most participative player (154 actions).

2010-12-12_FCB_-_REAL_SOCIEDAD_001.jpg► Villa’s goal was the first he has scored in the first quarter of an hour of a Barcelona match.

► Messi is just three shy of the 108 goals scored by Eto’o in the League got his first goals against Real Sociedad. Hercules is the only first division club holding out against the Argentinian.

► Of his 154 goals for Barça, 86 have been at home and 68 away.

► Bojan scored the last goal for FC Barcelona with the world champion logo on the shirt, as a new champion will be crowned this week.

► Mascherano got his third league yellow card against Real. Only Piqué is one game away from suspension.

► Valdés and Iniesta are the only players that have started every single league match to date.

Villa in home form
