Mascherano settling in well at Barça

After two months on the FC Barcelona books, Javier Mascherano feels at home. In an interview with the club’s official betting agency, Betfair, he has spoken about the difference between life in la Liga and the Premiership.

Javier Mascherano spent four years in the English Premiership, but told Betfair that he is adapting well to life at FC Barcelona: “After two months, I’m getting more and more confident each day, I’m getting to know my colleagues and the people at the club. It’s all making me feel much better”.

The Argentinian is playing an increasingly bigger role in the team, but modestly believes he still has a lot to learn. “I’m trying to learn the manager’s concepts and do what I’m asked to do better as each day goes by”.

Very different to the Premier

In this league, I’ve found a lot of teams like to play the ball, dominate play and worry more about skills and tactics. The Premier League’s football is more direct and physical”.

Looking forward to Madrid

There is still a month to go before the clásico with Real Madrid, but Mascherano is already sensing the media interest in one of the biggest games in the world. “The clásico will be a new experience for me. Luckily I’ve played in games like this before, like Liverpool v Manchester United, Boca v River or Argentina v Brazil. I hope I can get the most out of the chance to play in something as special as Barça v Real Madrid”.

Keeping an eye on Liverpool
Mascherano has not forgotten the four years he spent at Anfield: “I watch all the Liverpool games I can and I’m worried about their situation. Everybody was so helpful to me there and treated me kindly. My time at Liverpool ended, but the club will stay in my heart for the rest of my life.”
