www.fcbarcelona.cat

Spain manager Vicente del Bosque has called up seven Barça players for the World Cup winners’ friendly against Mexico on August 11th. Barça’s only World Cup squad player to be rested is Andres Iniesta.

Víctor Valdés, Piqué, Puyol, Sergio Busquets, Xavi, David Villa and Pedro are all in Del Bosque’s squad for the first game for the Spanish team since their success in South Africa, with Andres Iniesta given a rest after the injury problems he had during the World Cup.

Barca backbone of team

Once again the ex-Madrid boss has turned to the Barça squad for the core of his team. Explaining Iniesta’s absence, Del Bosque said: “he had a few problems at the World Cup and we thought it better he rejoined his club”.

Dos Santos with Mexico

Mexican coach Enrique Meza has also released his squad list for the game and Barça B youngster Jonathon Dos Santos will face Spain, making it eight Barca players involved in the game which comes just three days before they play Seville in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup.
