Guardiola new contract until 2012
FC Barcelona announce that they have reached an agreement with Josep Guardiola to renew his contract with the club for another season, until the 30th of June 2012.
The signing of the contract will take place in the next few days.
Two historic years
Pep Guardiola took over the management of the first team in 2008, following two
trophy-less years. His only previous experience of the job was one year in charge of the reserve
team, who he guided to promotion.
But he had a clear intention. For Barça to stay loyal to the same style he grew to know as a
player here (1991-2001). Two and half seasons later and the world watches in awe as Barça play some
of the most exquisite football ever seen and pick up title after title.
to now he has won eight of the ten completions the side has been involved in, including
back-to-back leagues, the Champions League and the club’s first ever Clubs World Cup. He has
also seen his side win a record 16 consecutive league games to go seven points clear at the top of
the table and also qualify for the last sixteen of this season’s Champions League and reach
the Copa del Rey final.
With Guardiola, Barça have experienced two and a half years of sheer excellence.
