Pedro: Eight goals in Eight La Liga games

Jesús Carrillo

Perdro didn’t get on the scoresheet in La Liga until the game against Getafe at the start of November, but since then he’s bagged eight goals in eight games and he continues to improve.

Sunday saw Pedro put in another impressive performance and his excellent positioning and sharp shooting gave him two more goals, his second brace of the season, and came mighty close to a hat-trick, with only the woodwork denying him.

First strike in Getafe

2010-11-07_PARTIDO_21.JPGPedro opened his 2010/11 La Liga account at Getafe, grabbing Barça’s third in the 1-3 win after being set up by Leo Messi and then the floodgates really opened as he scored the fourth in the 0-8 thrashing of Almeria, the second in the demolition of Real Madrid and the opener the week after in Pamplona, again from a lovely build up by Messi.

Four in last two

2010-12-04_PARTIDO_03.JPGIn the last two La Liga games, the Spanish World Cup winner has scored four goals, two in Cornella against Espanyol and two on Sunday. Against Espanyol, Pedro scored in each half, the first rounding off a clinical counter attack and the second after Kameni had parried away a shot.

Right footer
Despite Pedro’s great versatility and his ability to pop up and score all around the box, he’s actually scored all eight so far this season with his right foot, in contrast to last year when, for instance, he fired home with his left at the Santiago Bernabeu and headed the opener for the team in the final of the World Club Cup in Abu Dhabi against Estudiantes de la Plata de Argentina.
