Messi in doubt for Saturday

Leo Messi has a 1-2 degree sprain in his right ankle that puts him in doubt for the derby with Espanyol on Saturday. His availability depends on the Club Medical Services.

Just after scoring a magnificent free kick, Leo Messi was injured following a crunching tackle from Almeida. The resulting sprain means he may well miss this weekend’s match, with just three days to recover.

Leo Messi had had a brilliant match. Although he missed a good chance in the first half, he led his team in the second, calling for the ball non-stop, dribbling with ease and guiding Barça against an ultra-defensive Dynamo Kiev.

In the final minutes, he culminated a magnificent performance with a stunning free kick and continued to create dangerous moves on the edge of the Barça area, eventually getting injured in the middle of one such display of excellence.
