Barca equal best start in history

Roger Bogunyà

With the win over Almeria, Barca equalled their best ever start to a league season with six wins from six. The 18 points they've taken means they top the table ahead of Sunday's game between Seville and Madrid at the Sánchez Pizjuán.

The record, as a result of the wins over Sporting (3-0), Getafe (0-2), Athletico Madrid (5-2), Racing (1-4), Màlaga (0-2) and Almeria (1-0), matches those of the 1929/30, 1990/91 and 1997/98 seasons.

Seventh win the objective

Barca face Valencia in a fortnight's time and a win then will set a new record. In all of the previous seasons with a six win start, the seventh has ended in a draws detailed below:

1929/30. Athletic Club Bilbao put an end to the winning run, getting a 1-1 draw in Barcelona

1990/91. Johan Cruyff 's team were held to a goalless draw by Osasuna in Pamplona.

1997/98. Compostella took a 2-0 lead before Oscar Garcia and Rivaldo earned a draw.

Inter get last minute win (2-1)
A late goal from Sneijder gave Inter the points in their game against Udinese. Stankovic had put them ahead on 22 minutes before Di Natale made it 1-1 five minutes later. The win came at a price for Inter though as Diego Milito was forced off with an injury.
