Three glorious years at Barça

Roger Bogunyà

Eidur Gudjohnsen will take with him a host of fond memories after three glorious year at FC Barcelona as he helped the club to win no less than six trophies in his 100 games.

The first Icelandic player to ever appear for the Catalan club moved to Barça from Chelsea in 2006 and has always given everything to the team. It only took him a few months to pick up Spanish and then Catalan while on the pitch he showed his creativity and chipped in with a number of decisive goals.

Important goals

Moving backwards

Gudjohnsen proved that he was equally adept at playing a slightly reserved role as he produced good distribution and shots from distance.

Playing less

At the end of that season though the Icelander was told that he was going to be surplus to requirements after seeing himself being chosen less and less as the team moved towards the treble the term before.

At the start of the new campaign Gudjohnsen did not compete in either the Spanish Super Cup or the European Super Cup games.
