Thrilled and ecstatic. That’s how Pedro’s feeling after scoring the winning goal in Friday night’s European Super Cup.

It’s often said that in the busy world of football that today’s heroics are soon forgotten as the next game rolls along, but it was clear from Pedro’s attitude this lunchtime after speaking to Barca TV before training that the Barca youngster is still on a high after his efforts in Monaco.

Supersub

ENTREVISTA_EXCLUSIVA_PEDRO.jpgJosep Guardiola brought Pedro on for Zlatan Ibrahimovic on 81 minutes and the young forward knows that coming on so late in a game he has to: “bring something extra to the game, but I never thought I would be getting the winning goal. It wasn’t just the goal, it was winning us the title” explained Pedro, who added: “I don’t have words to describe how I felt after scoring”. Pedro dedicated the goal to his family, friends and the fans.

Impact on the first team

This season after signing a new contract in August that will keep him at the club until at least 2014, he’s looking to establish himself.

Great pre-season

ENTREVISTA_PEDRO.jpgIt’s been a brilliant pre-season in which he’s been amongst the team’s leading scorers, scored the winning goal at San Mames in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup and then rounding it off with his strike in Monaco on Friday. Pedro admitted: “I’m very happy with the way things are going for me Everything’s happening so quick, but it’s great and I’m relaxed about it all”.

Guardiola

Pep Guardiola has long been an admirer and strong supporter of Pedro and the youngster knows: “he’s a manager who’s always shown great confidence in me and he knows me well. I’m very grateful for everything he’s done for me”.

Home grown talent
Five years after arriving at the Masia, Pedro is enjoying the limelight with his goal in Monaco and is already a great example for the other youngsters working their way through the club’s junior teams, who he advises: “keep working hard, as those of us who are coming through now have done. The boss has a lot of confidence in the club’s youngsters and isn’t afraid to give them an opportunity. There are a lot of great home grown players - club knows how to use them and it’s working out well”.
