Chygrynskyy confirmed on Thursday that he has agreed a move to FC Barcelona. The Shakhtar Donetsk centre half told reporters he would play his last game for the Ukrainian outfit on Friday and then complete his transfer to Barça.

According to Lucescu: “It’s all resolved and the decision has been taken. I can confirm Chygrynskyy’s transfer to FC Barcelona but on condition that he plays the Super Cup final and then makes himself available to his new club”.

Xakhtar_-_Sivasspor_celebracix.jpgThe player himself ratified his manger’s words and recognised that it was a dream move for him: “Any player – and I'm no exception – dreams of playing for Barcelona. It's a source of pride for me at this stage of my career that Barcelona looked at my style and showed enough persistence to get me. Pressure on Friday? I'm a professional – I'm going to concentrate on the game and put any other issues out of my mind. I don't feel any pressure; I'm totally focused on this game. I've had a lot of questions about this issue over the last few days but I'm concentrated on this game."

“Barça are the favourites”

The Chygrynskyy transfer saga rather overshadowed the analysis of Friday’s game but Mircea Lucescu admitted that Barça were favourites: “Barça have won it all and they want to win more. They have great players, with quality and experience and so they are favourites. But we also have good footballers and I think that tomorrow we will show our strength”.

A good relationship with Guardiola
Lucescu and Guardiola worked together at Brescia as manager and player respectively. The Shakhtar coach assured reporters that they maintain a good relationship despite the clash last season in Donetsk:”We’re still good friends in spite of what happened in Donetsk. I had a little confrontation with Guardiola but it was just a bit heated. I have a lot of respect for him and I believe he respects me too”.
