Happy away days

David Puig

Winning away from home in the Spanish Super has always meant that the club won the trophy after they have recorded four victories and four overall triumphs.

Pep Guardiola's side secured a 1-2 win in San Mamés on Sunday evening thanks to goals from Xavi and Pedro and that means that fortune is now in their favour as the club has always won the trophy if they won away from home. Barça have appeared in the final on 14 occasions and whenever they have won away they have been fortunate and won the tournament.

Against the Andalucian outfit, Barça won 0-3 in the Ruiz de Lopera before going on to lose the return leg 1-2 at Camp Nou.

Against the Blanc i Blau the Blaugrana won 0-1 in the Estadi Ilímpic while in the return leg the aggregate score was increased with a 3-0 at home.

Zaragoza and Atlético de Madrid

Unusual scoreline
Since the Spanish Super Cup began 25 years ago there has never been a 1-2 scoreline in the opening game. In fact, that result has only happened three times and always in the second outing.
