Historic home season

Roger Bogunyà

Barca have not recorded such a fantastic season at the home for nearly 50 years - Sunday’s win against Valladolid was their 18th at the Nou Camp this season, with just two points dropped from a possible 57.

The 99 points the team took to win the title is an astonishing record and the 55 they took at home –representing 96% of the total points on offer at home, are more than they have ever recorded since they moved to the Nou Camp.

Five perfect seasons

EUFORIA_LLIGA_48-49_x2x.jpgGuardiola’s team came so close to a perfect record at home this season, failing to win just once when they drew with Villarreal, but the club have enjoyed five seasons when they won every home game - in 1947/48, 1948/49, 1952/53, 1958/59 and 1959/60 .

In two of those seasons there were just 14 teams in the league, whilst there were 16 in the other three and in each they won the league title.

Best for nearly 50 years at the Nou Camp

In the 1961/62 season, the team won 14 wins and drew just one game at home, a better percentage of points taken than this year as just two points were then awarded for a win, but Real Madrid outdid them to take the title.

Since three points have been given for a win, the closest Barca had come to equalling the last two seasons was in the 1996/97 campaign when they took 54 of the 63 points on offer at the Nou Camp - 86% in a league of 22 teams.

16 unbeaten seasons
This is the 16th time the club have gone through a league season unbeaten, repeating the feats of 1947/48, 1948/49, 1950/51, 1952/53, 1956/57, 1958/59, 1959/60, 1961/62, 1967/68, 1973/74, 1974/75, 1975/76, 1984/85, 1992/93 and 2006/07. Nine of those seasons have seen Barca lift the league title.
