Win equals record for victories on the road

Roger Bogunyà

The win in Seville meant that Barca equalled the record of away wins in a single season – 13 and rounded off a fantastic campaign on the road that’s seen just one defeat and four draws to take 44 of the season’s 96 points so far.

Below are some more stats arising from the win at the Sanchez Pijuan:

- Barca had 19 shots in the game, with eight of them on target, whilst Seville managed just seven attempts, five of which were on target.

2010-05-08_PARTIDO_21.JPG- Bojan’s goal to put the team 0-2 up took his total for the season to 12, equalling his first year’s total.

- Seville and their keeper Palop confirmed their position as Messi’s favourite victims as the Argentinean scored his eighth goal against them. Atletico and Real Madrid are his next favourites with seven goals apiece and Casillas the keeper who’s most suffered having conceded seven to the Barca star,

- Messi has now scored 32 league goals this season – just two behind Ronaldo’s record of 34- and equalled Rivaldo and Escola as Barca’s seventh highest all time scorer in the league.

2010-05-08_PARTIDO_18.JPG- Pedro again scored in the period from the 60th to the 75th minute – the eighth of his 22 goals this season to have been scored in that period.

- Once again, Barca’s central defenders, Puyol and Pique, went through the whole game without committing a single foul.

- The Barca player who most touched the ball was, not surprisingly, Xavi, who had 124 contacts. The Catalan will though, miss next week’s game after picking up a yellow card.

- DanI Alves won most ball for Barca – ten tackles, whilst Keita was next with nine.

Eight players from the academy
For the fifth time this season, Pep Guardiola sent out a team with eight home-grown players. He’d done the same against Sporting, Malaga, Valencia and Villarreal.
