Alves hits the 100 mark
Anna Segura
Dani Alves made his 100th Club appearance against Tenerife on Tuesday and celebrated the occasion by setting up three of Barca’s four goals.
The Brazilian fullback joined Barca less than two years ago and has since established himself as
first choice on the right of the back line. In no time at all he’s notched up 100 competitive
appearances.
Kings of the goal assist
Alves, who hasn’t missed a single league match this year, made a huge
contribution to Barca’s 4-1 win over Tenerife by setting up three of the goals for Bojan and
Messi (2).
Along with Messi himself, he tops the ranking of goal assists with 10.
Debut in the Champions League
After signing for the Club in the summer of 2008 (coinciding with the arrival of
Josep Guardiola on the manager’s bench), Dani Alves had to wait a little over a month to play
his first competitive game – the return leg of the qualifying phase tie against Wisla Krakow
in the Camp Nou. From that moment on he quickly established himself as a vital element in the team
that lifted six trophies last season. In fact, over the past two seasons, only goalkeeper Valdes
has played more.
Rome disappointment
His stats tell a story of consistent success, fully in line with his reputation as
one of the best fullbacks in the world. The only fly in the ointment for Alves was missing last
season’s Champions League final due to suspension.
