Guardiola pleased with form

Pep Guardiola believes that Barça's season will stand or fall on the next eight days. "With three games in the next week everything will be decided," he said as he looked ahead to the first encounter at Villarreal on Saturday.

After going out of the Champions League on Wednesday the Blaugrana boss remained upbeat. "I do not believe we are seeing a different team to before," he continued. "I have no doubt that they will compete like normal. We had a successful European campaign and there were a lot of reasons why we did not go through, but overall I am very pleased."

Nothing decided

Not securing all three points in El Madrigal this weekend will not see Barça's title chances disappear. "There will still a few games to play," Guardiola added. "It will be decided on the penultimate or last day. We will give everything that we have although we know there is not much of the season left."

Villarreal strength

Villarreal have turned their season around and Guardiola has been impressed with the Yellow Submarine's form. "They are a very good side and have a good structure making them a stable club," he said. "They are a good side and can take points from us. I have said before that we are not perfect and we can be beaten, but we try to do all that we can."

Great goal

Reflecting on Barça's European elimination, Guardiola was still able to admire Gerard Piqué's impressive goal on Wednesday. "It was a great surprise," he commented. "I said to Tito (Vilanova, his assistant) what a great goal it was. He is becoming better and better and I hope he continues to improve. Txiki always wanted him back from Manchester United. He is young and is becoming a great player."
