Players confident of turning tie around

www.fcbarcelona.cat

Speaking just after Tuesday evening’s defeat in Milan, the players assured reporters that they would overturn the deficit in the Camp Nou.

To add some weight to their words, Sergio Busquets referred back to some recent goal feasts in the Camp Nou: “The lads are confident this score line can be turned around in front of our own fans”. Piqué was even more convinced: “Two goals aren’t enough to say that we’re out” while Pedro underlined that they mustn’t fail in the remaining 90 minutes.

Here is a selection of the players’ post match comments:

Pedro:

"We lacked rhythm and the referee made mistakes, but we hope we can win the tie”.

"The second leg will be tough and we’ll have to be really focussed so as not to fail”.

"We have to focus on the second leg”.

"We’re confident of a fight back”.

"It’s good to score an away goal. We’ll give it 100% in the 90 minutes left in front of our own fans”.

"We tried everything we normally do but Inter played really well. They should be congratulated”.

"The fans will support us. It’ll be a great match”.

Busquets:

"We didn’t play very well at times. We tried to control the counterattacks but they can always catch you out”.

"We’ve scored a lot of goals in the Camp Nou, especially recently”.

"We can’t talk about the referee because that’s all in the past now. We shouldn’t make excuses”.

"They took advantage of the counterattack. The score line is excessive but we have to fight back”.

Piqué:

"90 minutes in the Camp Nou will seem like a long time. Let’s hope people come and support us because it all helps and I’m sure we’ll go through”.

"They found a way to stop us, neutralize our strong points and dominate the match”.

"After their third goal we could have scored a second”.

"Inter found a way to cancel out Xavi and Leo. They knew us very well”.

"It was my idea to go up into attack to help the team but it didn’t work”.

Alves:

2010-04-20_PARTIDO_03.JPG"It’s no use complaining. We have to be mentally positive and if we’re strong we’ll sort out our problems”.

"We made mistakes when they had chances. It was a fiercely fought contest but we deserved a little more”.

"Complaining is for losers and we’re not losers”.

"We’ve got 90 minutes ahead of us and we have shown before that we can respond to adversity in the Camp Nou. We have to prove that we’re stronger”.

Ibrahimovic:

"We’ve still got the return leg at home”.

"We began well but in the second half they scored two quick goals”.

"We didn’t play as well as usual”.

Puyol:

"It’s a bad result. Let’s hope the Camp Nou helps us turn the tie around”.

"There was a mad period in the second half when they scored the two goals”.

"We have to lift our morale, keep going and focus on the league match and on the return leg”.

"The referee has his job to do and we have to focus on playing”.

"On behalf of us all, I’d like to thank everybody who came and we hope we can give them some joy in the return leg”.
