Guardiola: Game 100 on the way

Edgar Fornós

The visit of Racing Santander to the Camp Nou will be the 100th official game with Josep Guardiola in charge at FC Barcelona. A win on Saturday would be the ideal way to celebrate the Catalan’s century as a manager.

100 games don’t sound like many given the amount of success Josep Guardiola has had, but that’s a fact. The games include all of those involved in the League, Copa del Rey, the Spanish and European Super Cups and the Clubs World Cup.

70 wins, 19 draws and 10 defeats

2009-12-07_ENTRENO_33.JPGOf the ten defeats, it is important to note that four were in games where there was very little at stake or the result had already been decided in the first leg. These were against Wisla Krakow and Shakhtar in the Champions League, and in the Liga against Mallorca and Osasuna when the league title had already been secured.

3 out of 3 in finals

When it comes to finals, Guardiola has an impeccable record. In Valencia, they beat Athletic Bilbao to win the cup (4-1), in Rome, they beat Manchester United to win the Champions League (2-0) and at the Louis II in Monaco, they beat Shakhtar to win the European Super Cup (1-0).

Sic trophies

In his 99 games at the helm, Guardiola has already won six titles and set all kinds of records in just a season and a half in charge of the side.

“La que hem liat”

7_xchampionsx.jpgCalled “La que hem liat”, Barça TV has produced a special programme that looks back at all the amazing achievements of Guardiola in his first 100 games at FC Barcelona. Directed by Miriam Nadal, it will first be shown at 23.00 on Saturday after the show El Marcador.
