www.fcbarcelona.cat

Iniesta was disappointed at losing the tie despite dominating the second leg and winning the match 1-0.

”We knew that it would be very complicated and we tried for the 90 minutes but it wasn’t to be. It makes you really angry and above all seeing the second half was so one-sided”.

Here are some of the players’ post match comments:

Xavi

"We’re very angry because we deserved to win".

"We were much better than Sevilla throughout the tie".

"We found the first half difficult and we didn’t take the match by the scruff of the neck”.

"We had three or four such clear chances that it seemed that the second goal had to come”.

"We’re knocked out but with our heads held high".

"We have to go forward. There are two titles left and we’ll give 100% to win them”.

Messi

"It’s hurts to go out like this".

"In the second half we created enough chances to win the tie”.

"We needed a bit of luck but we must congratulate Sevilla”.

Pinto

"Things don’t always work out the way you want".

"The goal opened up the game".

"You can’t complain about the team".

"We’re disappointed because we had a lot of hopes for this competition but we just have to carry on”.

"The whole of the Sevilla team played their part but Palop did a lot to help his team go through”.

"It’s not the manager’s fault. In this team we all win or lose together”.

Xavi, 50 goals for Barça
Last night’s goal in the Sánchez Pizjuán was Xavi’s 50th in his 505 competitive matches with the first team (he made his debut in the 1998-99 season). It’s his fourth goal this season. Earlier in the day he was named as World’s Best Playmaker 2009 by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

The players will travel to Barcelona on Thursday morning and are due to train at noon. Carles Puyol will then give a press conference. Dani Alves has the permission of the manager to spend the night in Seville.
