Pedro: "It will be a very special game"

David Puig

FC Barcelona's game against Tenerife will be extra special for Pedro Rodríguez as the young forward returns to his home to face the team that he supported as a boy and has promised not celebrate if he scores.

For the 22-year-old the visit to the Canary Island outfit will not just be another match for him to play in, but will instead mean much to him and his family, who will all be present for the occasion. "I will be among my own people and with me friends," he explained. "It will be a very special game for me."

No celebration

"They all want Barça to win," he continued. "The family is completely behind me and I hope that we can take all three points, but it will not be easy. I will not celebrate if I score though out of respect for all the people on Tenerife that have supported me."

Tough game

"But we also want the points and we will be full of desire to come away with a win. We are doing well and we are focussed and united. We have not begun the New Year as we would have liked but we are calm and are working hard."

Last time out
Pedro remembers the last time that CF Barcelona visited the Heliodro Rodríguez López. "I can recall it well as I was in the stadium," he said. "(Patrick) Kluivert scored four times and the last one was an own goal. It was a heavy defeat but was also great to watch."
