Barça get Atlético Madrid in Cup last 16

Atlético Madrid will be FC Barcelona’s opponents in the last 16 of the Spanish Cup. The first leg will be played on 7 January at Vicente Calderón, with the second a week later at Camp Nou.


This Monday lunchtime the draw for the last 16 of the Spanish Cup was held at Las Rozas and Barça’s next opponents will be Atlético Madrid. The first leg will be played on 7 January in Madrid, with the second a week later in Barcelona.

Poli Ejido or Espanyol in quarter-finals

If Barça make it through the last 16, they will face the winner of the Poli Ejido v Espanyol tie. Here the planned dates for the quarter final clash would be 21 January with the return leg again being held a week later.

The semi-finals

In the semi-finals the winner of the Poli Ejido–Espanyol and Atlético Madrid–FC Barcelona part of the draw will go head-to-head with the team that comes out of the Mallorca–Almería and Real Unión–Betis clashes.

Slight lead

Barcelona and Atlético Madrid have faced off in 21 Cup ties, with the Catalans slightly in the lead at 11 wins to Atlético Madrid’s 10.
