Iniesta out for six to eight weeks

Andrés Iniesta has been ruled out for between six and eight weeks after he underwent a series of tests on Wednesday on an injury that he sustained against Basel.

The midfielder was replaced by Samuel Eto’o after 67 minutes of the Champions League encounter with a knock that has now been diagnosed as a slight tear in the posterior septum of his right knee and that will now sideline him for up to two months.

If the injury does keep Iniesta out for the maximum time predicted then he could miss at least ten games in the run in to the New Year and in early 2009.

Piqué progressing well

There has been some good news as the bruising to Gerard Piqué’s thigh is said to be progressing well and he could be available for the next game.
