A night of landmarks and goals

Sergio Busquets, Víctor Sánchez and Martín Cáceres made their Champions League debuts for FC Barcelona. The trio were able to taste life at the highest level of the continental game in Basel.


In the 15th minute, Busquets marked his opening game in Europe for the Blaugrana by netting the team’s second goal in a 0-5 victory against the Swiss side. After being picked out by Xavi on the right of the area, the midfielder took a touch to control the ball before beating Franco Costanzo.

Martín Cáceres

Cáceres made his entrance as a substitute in the 53rd of the game when he went on to replace Rafael Márquez and was able to sit back as the visitors were already five goals ahead by the time and he was able to enjoy the remainder of the game.-

Víctor Sánchez

basilea-fcb_x9x.jpgSánchez was also a substitute when he went on to replace Touré Yaya with 67 minutes of the game on the clock. The Barça number 29 was able to have a few touches of the ball and show his creative side.

Bojan starts for first time
Bojan Krkic knows what it is like to play in the Champions League and to score after starting his first game of the season for Barça. The striker repaid Pep Guardiola’s faith by scoring two goals and leading the front line with some style.
