Messi: “It has a been a great day”

The FC Barcelona players were evidently delighted after the emphatic victory against Atlético de Madrid on Saturday evening and explained that confidence was now very high within the squad. Lionel Messi believes that it was a great day for the team.


Goals, great play and real intensity were all features of a gripping enoucnter in Camp Nou and afterwards the Blaugrana players explained what they felt about the team’s sixth consecutive victory in all competitons.

Leo Messi:

“We knew that it was an important game and we have played with great intensity.”

“It has been a very good day.”

“It is a shame that I could not score, but more importantly, we had a great win and I am very pleased.”

“Today the fans were behind the game like they always are.”

Andrés Iniesta:

“It is good to win. It was an objective before the international break.”

“We should not forget that we are at the start and there is still a long way to go.”

“We have been very aggressive. It was an extraordinary first half.”

Gerard Piqué:

“Perfection does not exist, we can always play better, but if the truth be told then today we have played very well.”

“After all these wins in a row, the team has great confidence that we can go on and achieve something.”

“We work a lot on corners and that was the result. The team is playing well because we have finally found our feet.”

Sergio Busquets:

Back to training on Tuesday
Josep Guardiola has given his players Sunday off and, therefore, the first team squad will not return to training until 10:30 on Tuesday morning. The coach will only be able to count on four first team players, however, due to international commitments.
