On the Gamper poster

The Blaugrana players Alves, Puyol, Iniesta, Xavi and Bojan, as well as Boca Juniors’ Riquelme, Palermo and Battaglia will be on the poster for the 43rd Gamper tournament.

The details have been finalised for the 43rd Joan Gamper Trophy, which will take place between FC Barcelona and Boca Juniors at Nou Camp on August 16th . The Barça players who appear on the poster for the tie are three recent European Cup winners Puyol, Iniesta and Xavi, as well as Bojan and Dani Alves, one of the new squad members for the 2008-2009 season.

Included among the players from the rivals Boca Juniors on the poster is ex-Barça player Riquelme, as well as Palermo and Battaglia, who both have Spanish League experience. The poster also gives information on the fixture and where tickets can be bought.

Family festival at Nou Camp

As usual, different family activities will be organised during the day of the game outside the stadium, and the new Barça squad will be presented by new coach Pep Guardiola. Then, the 43rd match for the Gamper trophy will kick off.

A familiar rival

This year will be the fifth time that Boca Juniors have faced FC Barcelona in this tournament. The last time was in 2003, when Frank Rijkkaard had just taken over as Barça coach. The other occasions were during the 1967/68, 1977/78 and 1984/85 seasons.
