Players welcomed in Mallorca with cries of “Champions!”


The football first team is now in Mallorca, having arrived there a little after 11.30 am. They were met by a crowd of around 500 fans who chanted “Champions!” as the players came out of the airport terminal.

The League Champions are now in Mallorca, where this evening they play at the Ono Estadi in their first match after clinching the League title. The squad, featuring a significant number of Barça Atlètic players, went straight from the airport to their hotel.

Enthusiastic reception

17-05-09_WEB_EQUIPO_02.jpgThe Barça party travelled to Mallorca this Sunday morning onboard a 10.30 flight from El Prat airport. The team, which has now won Barça’s 19th League title, was given an enthusiastic reception on their arrival at Mallorca airport.

Festive atmosphere

No-one wanted to miss out on the chance to see the new League champions up close. Around 100 airport workers greeted them off the plane, and as they left the terminal 500 Barça fans were there to chant “Champions!”

The squad has been accompanied by club chairman Joan Laporta, vice-chairmen Alfons Godall, Joan Franquesa and Rafael Yuste, and directors Albert Perrín, Jordi Torrent, Patrick Auset and Magda Oranich. Also in the party is director of football Txiki Begiristain. The directors Xavier Bagués and Josep-Ignasi Macià have been in Mallorca since Saturday night when they went to a supporters’ clubs’ dinner.
