Ono Estadi is happy hunting ground

Edgar Fornós

Barça have won their last six League games at Mallorca, which means the Ono Estadi has been a happy hunting ground for points for the Catalans in recent years.

Since a nil-nil draw in 2001/2002, Barça has won all six of the League matches it has played against Mallorca at the Ono Estadi.

Most recent

The most recent visit was last season in January 2008 when goals by Eto’o and Marquez gave Barça a two nil win.

3 goals 3 seasons running

In each of the 2003/04, 2004/05 and 2005/06 seasons Barça scored 3 away at Mallorca. In the first they won 1-3 with goals by Saviola, Ronaldinho and Cocu. The following year Eto’o with a brace and Larsson with one led to a repeat score line. In the League and Champions League season Barça won 0-3 with Giuly and Messi, who scored twice, doing the honours.

Four goal wins

The biggest wins came in the 2002/2003 and 2006/07 seasons. In the former a goal by Mark Overmars and a Patrick Kluivert hat trick gave Barça a four nil win, while two years ago Frank Rijkaard’s men got four more through Gudjohnsen, with two, Iniesta and Ezquerro to run out winners 1-4.

Back in Mallorca

This will be the fourth game between Barça and Mallorca this season. In the first League encounter the Catalans won 3-1. Then they were drawn together in the Cup semi-finals. At Camp Nou a header by Henry and a Màrquez free-kick gave Barça a 2-0 win, while in the second leg at the Ono Estadi, Pinto was the hero when he saved a penalty with Barça 1-0 down before Messi got the equaliser.

Distant defeat
The last time Barça lost at Mallorca was in the 2000/01 season when Llorenç Serra Ferrer’s men went down by two goals to nil. Oddly enough the Balearic Island outfit’s first goal was scored by Samuel Eto’o, four years before he joined the Catalan club. The Cameroon striker then gave an assist to Ibagaza who made it two nil.
