Where are they now?

FC Barcelona last won the Spanish Cup in the 1997/8 season under the management of Louis Van Gaal. None of the players who turned out for that game remain on the playing staff at the club and below we detail where they are now.


- Ruud Hesp: Retired in 2002 after a stint with Fortuna Sittard. Currently goalkeeping coach with the Dutch national team.

- Vitor Baía: Retired at Oporto in 2007, where he is now Director of External Relations.

- Carles Busquets: Retired in 2003 after playing for Lleida. Currently a goalkeeping coach with Barca.

- Òscar García: Retired at Lleida in 2005. Commentator for Barça TV and Catalunya Ràdio.

- Roger García: Retired in 2007 at Ajax. Plays in the indoor league with the Barca veterans.

- Juan Antonio Pizzi: Retired in 2002 alt Vilarreal. Has managed in Peru.

- Fernando Couto: Retired in 2008 at the age of 39 anys after playing in Serie B with Parma.

- Giovanni: Currently playing with Mogi Mirim EC in Brazil, a club owned by Rivaldo.

- Miquel Àngel Nadal: Retired at Mallorca in 2005. Plays in the indoor league with the Barca veterans.

- Christophe Dugarry: Retired in 2005 at Qatar SC. Now a commentator with Canal + France.

- Hristo Stoichkov: Retired in 2003 at the age of 39 after playing for DC United in USA. Managed Celta in 2007.

- Dragan Ciric: Retired in 2005 at the club where he started his career - FK Partizan. Now lives in Serbia.

Rivaldo.jpg- Rivaldo: Plays for Bunyodkor in Uzbekistan. President and owner of Mogi Mirim EC.

- Luis Enrique: Retired in 2004 at FC Barcelona. Now trains Barça Atlètic.

- Sergi Barjuan: Retired at Athlètic de Madrid in 2005. Plays in the indoor league and is a rally driver with his own team Sergi Motors Team.

- Albert Ferrer: Retired in 2003 at Chelsea. Currently a TV commentator and aims to become a manager.

- Emmanuel Amunike: Retired in 2004 at Al-Wihdat in Jordan. Currently manages Julius Berger FC in Nigeria.

- Michael Reiziger: Retired in 2007 at PSV. Currently studying for coaching badge in Holland.

- Ivan de la Peña: Playing for RCD Espanyol.

- Josep Guardiola: Retired in 2006 at Dorados in Mexico. Manager of FC Barcelona.

- Luis Figo: Still playing at the age of 36 for Inter de Milan.

- Sonny Anderson: Retired in 2006 at Al-Gharafa Sports Club in Qatar. Now forms part of the staff at Olympic Lyon.

- Albert Celades: Plays for New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer in USA.

- Manager, Louis Van Gaal: This season won the Dutch league managing AZ Alkmaar.

- Assistant manager, Gerard Van Der Lem: Assistant to Henk Ten Cate at Panathinaikos. Trainer, Paco Seirul•lo: Continues with the same job at the club.

- Manager’s assistant: José Mourinho: Manages Inter de Milà.

- Goalkeeping coach: Franz Hoek: Goalkeeping coach with the Polish national team and assists with the Dutch national team.
