Xavi still up for the fight

Barca midfielder Xavi Hernàndez reckons: “it’s a privilege to be competing for titles” and in a situation he described as “unbeatable”, he stressed that the rest of the league schedule will be “like seven finals”.

Xavi was speaking at the presentation of the book “Historias solidarias del deporte” – Solidarity Stories in Sport at the Instituto Dexeus and made it clear he was looking forward to the business end of the season: “I’m not tired mentally or physically. I just feel privileged to be in a position where I am competing for titles on so many fronts”.

Seven finals ahead

I know it sounds like a cliché, but we have seven finals ahead of us”.

One game at a time

Ahead of perhaps the toughest set of matches in the competition, Xavi stressed the need to “take it one game at a time. So far that’s served us well and we really need to be at the top of our game for Wednesday’s match against Seville. We’ve got some big games coming up against tough rivals and when you get to this part of the season, everyone is playing for something”.

Possibilities and reality

QM3D9761.jpgThere’s been plenty of talk from the Madrid camp that Barca’s visit to the Bernabeu could be a turning point in the season, but Xavi has his own take on that: ”they are talking about possibilities, but I’d just look at facts – we’re at the top of the league and we’re six points ahead of them”.

Good atmosphere in the squad
Xavi also talked about the atmosphere in the squad right now. “there’s a really good feeling amongst us. It’s easy to create a good atmosphere when you are winning and at the moment there’s a lot of understanding between us all and it’s a very united squad”.
