Samuel Eto'o moves up goalscorer table

Berta Brau

With just three goals to go before he reaches a hundred in the League, Samuel Eto'o is still moving up the list of all-time Barça goalscorers. The Cameroon striker is now in equal third place in the table for finding the net for Barça in the League.

Samuel Eto'o has scored 97 goals in 128 League matches for Barça at a rate of 0.75 per game. He is now tied in third place in the list of all-time Barça marksmen with Mariano Martín, who played for the club in the 1940s.

Only behind Kubala and César

CESARretrat.jpgOnly two players, Kubala and César Rodríguez, have now scored more League goals for the Catalans. Ladislau Kubala found the net on 131 occasions to put him in second place, while in top spot is César Ródriguez who scored 195 goals in 287 League games before leaving the club after the 1955 season.

Amazing rate

Eto’o has been on a roll this season with 19 strikes in 19 League outings to average a goal a game, including a hat-trick against Almeria and four goals against Valladolid. His next target is to beat the hundred mark in the League, which he might do this coming Sunday away at Racing.

Catching up in the Golden Boot
Eto’o is hard on the heels of the man leading the Golden Boot classification at the moment. Just 7 points separate him from Salzburg’s Janko, who tops the European goalscorers’ table with 45 points.
