Training without Motta

Sandra Sarmiento / Roger Bogunyà

Following their amazing performance in the Gamper, FC Barcelona trained on Friday with Sunday’s game against Athletic Bilbao on their minds.

Frank Rijkaard had his full squad apart from Puyol, Edmílson and Eto'o, who are injured, and Motta, who is in Madrid negotiating a possible move to Atlético. The session took longer than two hours, and started in the Miniestadi at 10.00 am.

Thuram in isolation

After the different warm up drills, the players did circuit training. Thuram missed all of this, and instead worked out with fitness trainer Albert Roca.

Meanwhile, like on Thursday, Gudjohnsen rejoined the group and trained as per normal.

Group work

One of Friday’s exercises was based on winning back the ball. Each of three groups of players tried to keep possession while the other two tried to win it off them.

The forwards and wingers, however, were taken aside to do different exercises. This consisted of a circuit of cones and barriers, which ended with shots on goal.

Valdés and Jorquera were the goalkeepers, while the whole occasion was watched by some 100 people located in a corner of the stadium.
