Valencia, a familiar cup rival

Valencia is the team Barça have met the third most often in the cup, and the Catalans have generally had the upper hand.

Barça and Valencia have crossed paths 17 times in the cup, and Barça have gone through 11 times. 14 of these meetings have been in the earlier rounds, and Barça have qualified 9 times as opposed to Valencia’s 5.

The sides have met in three finals, Barça winning in 70-71 and 51-52, and losing in 53-54. All of these were played in the years of the Franco dictatorship when the competition was known as the ‘Copa del Generalisimo’.
