It is important that the people take part and I hope that the ‘no’ vote wins.

He is confident it will go no further

Asked whether he would still be president on Monday, Laporta was very clear: “The club members have to decide and that’s what today is all about. But I’m convinced that the vote of censure will go no further.”

Respectful majority

With reference to the atmosphere that he found at this Sunday’s vote, Laporta stated that he had met “many members who have given us their heartfelt support, the majority have been very respectful”. The president also pointed out that a small “minority” hadn’t: “apart from a small group, who haven’t acted as they should, they ought to be more tolerant and respect everyone’s opinion, the majority have been perfectly behaved.”

He calls for calm

QM3D0179.jpgJoan Laporta also spoke of the image he has given as president in these last five years in the position: “The image I have given these last five years has been correct and I don’t think there are any reasons for presenting this censure. I would like some calm to be able to run the club well.”
