Details of Nicolau Casaus tribute announced

www.fcbarcelona.cat

Futbol Club Barcelona has announced the plans for the tribute to late vice president Nicolau Casaus, which will take place around the upcoming Assembly and in the build up to the Joan Gamper Trophy 2007.

After studying the different proposals in conjunction with the Barça Supporters Clubs Advisory Council, a series of events have been organised to commemorate the former vice president, and especially for everything he did to expand the supporters movement.

Representation by Supporters Clubs

The events will take place shortly before the players take to the pitch, and will begin with a parade of seventy children that took part in the International 7-a-side Tournament for Supporters Clubs. The 'Himno de las Peñas' will be played as 34 of the children will carry out images of the 34 geographical regions into which the world map of supporters clubs is divided.

The video scoreboard will meanwhile be showing a series of images of the man who was vice president of Futbol Club Barcelona for almost 25 years, and following a few words in memory of Nicolau Casaus, a minute’s silence will be observed in the stadium. A minutes silence will also have been observed a few hours earlier during the Assembly in the Palau Blaugrana.

New ideas

The club and the Barça Supporters Clubs Advisory Council are also discussing ways of paying permanent tribute to the work done by the great Nicolau Casaus and the next World Meeting, to be held in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, will include a parade in his honour.

Family invited
FC Barcelona has invited Nicolau Casaus’ family to attend the Joan Gamper Trophy. The family has said they would rather not sit in the presidential box for sentimental reasons, and will watch it instead from their usual seats.
