Vote of no confidence received

Oriol Giralt and Christian Castellví have a issued a vote of no confidence against the FC Barcelona board of directors and delivered 9,473 members' signatures to the club that will now be examined by the Mesa del Voto de Censura.

On Thursday afternoon, the two members personally handed over the papers to register the vote of no confidence against all the current Blaugrana directors at the club's administration offices at Camp Nou. The signatures will now be examined by a five man committee set up for such special circumstances.

The signatures were counted by a notary and all 9,473 are now in the hands of the club after Giralt and Castellví left them.

Following the statutes

According to Article 49.4 of the FC Barcelona statutes, within ten days from the day that the club received the papers, Thursday, the Mesa del Voto de Censura, which is a five-man panel that will examine the signatures, will set up and the process can begin.

The penal will comprise of the first two signatories of the vote, Giralt and Castellví, two members of the board of the club and a delegate from the Catalan Football Federation.

Validation of the signatures

Once formed, the Mesa will proceed within ten days to verify that the vote complies with the requirements and that, specifically, it has the adequate backing and support of a sufficient numbers of club members and associates (a minimum of 5,882 are required) or delegates (a minimum of 1,829 are required). The Mesa will be able to nullify the signatures that are not deemed to be reputable and will be able to carry out any investigations into the authenticity of any signatures.

Valid or not valid

If all the requirements have been met, the Mesa will declare that the vote is valid and the board of directors will be ordered to call for a referendum, which must be held in between ten and 20 working days from the time that the Mesa was formed.

If not all the requirements are met the Mesa will have legal grounds to reject the request of the vote and the two that presented the signatures will be informed.
