World Meeting: general satisfaction

Sunday marked the end of two days of intensive Barça supporter activities in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. The XXXI World Meeting has been a great success for the club, the organisers and attendees alike.

According to Jacint Borràs, director of the Supporters’ Club Department at FC Barcelona, the extremely well-attended event was a chance for the club and the supporters’ clubs to exchange ideas and impressions. “The Meeting has been tremendously successful. We want the clubs to become more active and we are here to do everything we can to help them,” he said.

Massive turnout

“We are the Camp Nou’s neighbours. In L'Hospitalet de Llobregat there are between 15,000 and 20,000 Barça members and this event has brought out residents, members and fans to show what they feel for the club. We are very happy with the response we’ve got from people,” said Jacint Borràs.

A lot of work but well-rewarded

For the Collblanc-Torrassa Supporters’ Club, the organisers of the event, all of its work has been rewarded by the success of the Meeting. “We are very happy with how it’s gone. There haven’t been any problems. Organising the Meeting took a lot of work but both the Town Council and FC Barcelona have helped out a lot. We put a lot into this and now everyone knows about the link between L’Hospitalet and Barça. Everyone has played their part,” said Mercè Oller, the vice-president of the Supporters’ Club and one of the driving forces behind the Meeting.

Fans welcome ex-players
Julio Alberto Moreno and Hristo Stòitxkov took an active role in all the events at the Meeting. The ex-players no longer take to the field but were still surrounded by supporters who wanted autographs or to have a chat. Julio Alberto said it had been a very special occasion for them: "Going to these events with the supporters’ clubs is fantastic. When you go outside Catalonia and you see supporters’ clubs with more than 1000 members, who know all about Barça and are really committed to the club, it is really very exciting."
