Pascual: "Defensively almost perfect"

Sònia de Alba

Regal Barça coach Xavi Pascual could not hide his delight after seeing his team qualify for the Last 16 of the Euroleague with a stunning win against Fenerbahçe on Thursday evening in Palau Blaugrana.

Conceding just 55 points in game in which they scored 89 themselves meant that the trainer was proud of his team's display at the back. "Defensively we bordered on perfection at times," he explained. "The team has been superb tactically and remained focussed throughout."

Some of FC Barcelona's football players watched the game in the arena with Bojan Krkic, Gerard Piqué and Carles Puyol, while several Sorli Discau roller hockey stars were there, such as Jordi Adroher, Mia Ordeig, Sergi Panadero and Lluís Teixidó

Below are what the coach and some of the basketball players said after the game.

"We played a complete. It was not easy because we could have dropped opur guard after the games againbst Siena and Málaga, but we did very well ."

Jaka Lakovic

"We prepared well for the game because we knew that it would be difficult. If we had not been at 100 per cent then Fenerbahçe could have caused us some problems."

"I think we played very well from the start. We have a lot of players and we all gave 100 per cent and our rhythm never dropped."

Erazem Lorbek

"The team defended very well, above all the older players. We stopped Mrsic and Greer. In the end it was easy."

Xavi Rabaseda

"Everyone worked well in defence. We have played well now for several games. Our defence is our strength. From the back we build and that is how we win games."

I am very pleased. Pascual gave me some minutes."

Not that bad
Fenerbahçe coach Bogdan Tanjevic felt that the scoreline was harsh on his players. "We were not as bad as it seems," he said after the game. Remaining confident he feels that his team will qualify for the Last 16. "Fortunately Barça will not be in our group," he added.
