Barca’s win in Vitoria again showed the team’s quality and although they had to work hard for the win, coach Xavi Pascul expressed his satisfaction with his players, insisting: “I can find no fault with them”.

Here are Coach Pascual’s post-match comments:

“We were shooting better and finding it easier to score in the second quarter and we dominated in the third, controlling the rebound and much improved in defence – we looked more solid. The fact that we kept them at a distance though really helped us – that was decisive”.

“It’s true that we received a lot of points in the first quarter, they got six points on the run from counter attacks and we can’t let that happen. That said, there were other moments when we defended well, like when Basile defended Carl English’s three pointer”.

“It’s a big thing to win here – they’ve not lost for two years at home”

“Both teams showed a lot of mental toughness and a focus on today’s game, without getting distracted by Tuesday. We played at the limit of our possibilities”.

Ricky ‘on fire’
Ricky Rubio was Regal Barca’s maximum point scorer, with 17 - including 5 out of 5 three pointer – and an overall valuation of 19 points and after the game he admitted: “this was a very important win. This is a very tough place to come to. They played hard for the full 40 minutes. It was really hard work for us, particularly because they took good advantage of the counter attack, especially in the first half.” As to his own 100% shooting, Ricky shrugged and simply said: “today they all went in!”

Ricky played the final five minutes with four personal fouls and his coach explained: “he was controlling the time really well and we changed the defence to avoid any fouls. He showed a lot of maturity in those last few minutes”.
