Barton signs for three seasons

Lubos Barton has signed for FC Barcelona after agreeing a three-year deal after leaving DKV Joventut and will strength his new team both on the wings and in the middle.


The 28-year-old is renowned for his ability to play in a number of positions and will be a strong addition to the Blaugrana squad after signing a contract that lasts for two seasons with a third if both parties agree.

After spending three years with Joventut, the 2.02m-tall Barton has the ability to score points and is strong on rebounds. With Badalona he averaged 25 minutes-per-game and scored 11 points-per-game.
Barton3Eurolliga.JPGBarton's scoring prowess knows no limits as his performances in recent seasons prove. In his first three years in the ACB, the Czech international netted 33 per cent of ihs three-point throws, 54 per cent of his two-pointers and 69 per cent on free throws.

Moving to the ACB

After beginning his career in the youth ranks of Ceska Lipsa, Barton spent the 1996/97 and 1997/98 campaigns wit SCE Decin before moving on to the Valparaíso University when he was 18.

Barton1Eurolliga.JPGFollowing his time in the United States, he moved back to Europe to join Skipper and fnished as runners-up in the league before joininng Lottomatica for two seasons. In the 2005-06 campaign, he switched to the ACB League and joined DKV Joventut where he helped the team win the Catalan league twice, the FIBA Eurocup in Kiev, the ULEB Cup and the Copa del Rey.

Playing against Barça
Lubos Barton has faced FC Barceona in the ACB League when playing DKV Joventut and also in the Euroliga during his spells with Skipper and Lottomatica.

In none of those game did he stand out, with his best performance coming last term for Joventut when he scored nine points and managed eight rebounds.
