Eighteenth European Cup!

FC Barcelona Sorli Discau continued to make history and retained their European Roller Hockey League title won in the 2006/07 season.

In the first stage Quim Paüls’ men won all seven matches. The venue for the Final Four, the Palau Blaugrana, was the ideal choice for the Catalans to win the title once again. Barça beat Vic 2-1 in the semi-finals in a hard fought match, with Carlos López slotting home the winner with just two minutes left on the clock.

5-2 in the final

Reus was Barça’s rival in the final. Teixidó made it 1-0 at the start of the game but shortly afterwards Toni Sánchez equalised. With three minutes to go in the first half, Páez made it 2-1. The second half was a Barça fiesta. Carlos López scored from the penalty spot to make it 3-1 in the 35th minute and then Teixidó and Borregán added two more to put Barça out of sight.

José Luis Páez did score a consolation goal later on but the 5-2 final score showed which team was best in Europe. With the Palau bouncing, captain Borregán lifted Barça’s eighteenth European Cup.
