The captain of the national handball side started to play the sport when he was just eight, in the Colegio SAFA Horta.

Six year later he joined FC Barcelona, where he played in the youth ranks, until in 1988 he made his first team debut. Since then he has become a vital player for the team and has been made captain thanks to his leadership qualities both on and off the court.

For two consecutive seasons, 2000-01 and 2001-02, he won the IHF Best Goalkeeper in the World award. He was also included in the World's Best Team award in 2003.

CHARACTERISTICS

Barrufet is a world class goalkeeper who is outstanding at lstopping long throws and throws from the wings. He gives his defence a great sense of secruity and is especially good at saving penalties.
