Demetrio Lozano Jarque

Demetrio Lozano has returned to Barça after six years away. The full back from Madrid has played for Kiel and Portland and is now back at a club where he won two Asobal Leagues and two Champions Leagues, among many other titles.

Demetrio Lozano started playing the game in his home city for Juventud Alcalá, where he was in the first team for two seasons (1993-94, 1994-95). He then spent two years at Ademar de León (1995-1998) under then newly arrived coach Manolo Cadenas. In 1998-1999 he signed for Barça at the height of the Dream Team. He was part of that historic side that won all 7 of the competitions it was involved in. He then decided to try out the Bundesliga, spending three years with Kiel (2001-2004). He returned to the Asobal League and Portland San Antonio for three seasons (2004-2007).

Lozano is also a member of the Spanish national side, and won the world championship in Tunisia in 2005, and bronze Olympic medals at Sydney 2000 and Atlanta 1996.

PROFILE

Lozano adds consistency to the defence and strength to the right side of the court. His experience is a prime asset, as is his winning mentality. He has a terrific long throw and goalkeepers have little chance of stopping his shots when they hit the target. He is hard working and disciplined and an exceptionally loyal colleague.
