Goal hungry Fernandao

His 31 goals in the league show what a great goal scorer he is. Fernandao has shown his true character this season after being dogged by injuries the previous season.

‘In crescendo’

SALA_15.jpgHe came to Barca Mobicat with the clear ambition that he wanted to be a lethal pivot, but he was dogged by injuries during his first season. This season, with 31 league goals, Fernandao has finally shown what a great goal scorer he is, ending up just four off the top scorer in the league: “I’ve enjoyed this season a lot more. During the holidays I worked a lot on my fitness. I’m now satisfied to have made the national side and played in the World Championship. It’s been incredible”.

Great first game

qm3d0825.jpgHis first league game couldn’t have been better; he scored twice against Benicarlo. He went on to get four against Pinto and a hat-trick against his former club Playa. His 31 goals left him just four away from league top-scorer Wilde of El Pozo Murcia.

Good and bad side of the Cup

QM3D2910.jpgIn the Spanish Cup, Fernandao saw the good and bad side of cup competitions. He was decisive in the semi-final against Benicarlo, winning the game for Barca in the last minute: “That was a great game. We were down, but we kept on fighting and pulled the game back”.

But the Brazilian pivot saw the worst in the final, when he missed a clear chance just after having made the score all square: “That was the worst moment of the season, not scoring. It’s hard for me to forget it”.

Tough final

QM3D4797.jpgAnother difficult moment to forget was the play-off and being eliminated at the hands of Pinto: “I don’t know what happened. We didn’t play badly, but we just didn’t do enough to beat Pinto”.

Despite this, Fernandao thinks it’s been a good season: “We need to take two steps forward. We’ve had a good season. We know the difficulties we’ll face. We need to learn”.
