2-6 win that goes down in history

On 2 May 2009 Barcelona took a giant stride towards winning the League title, but best of all was the venue where they did it: Santiago Bernabeu. Barça fans will never forget the 2-6 thrashing handed out to Madrid.

The performance by Josep Guardiola’s side was appreciated worldwide. Goals by Henry (2), Messi (2), Puyol and Piqué added up to six Barça strikes at Bernabeu, a record total in the League. Until then Barça’s biggest win and a landmark in the club’s history had been the 0-5 win in the 1973/74 season that was seen by TV viewers in black and white. Now there’s a new one and this time it’s in full colour.

Below are the main stories that came out of the clash which is already a legend in the history of Barcelona Football Club.
