No preseason silverware

The senior basketball squad was out of luck in summer 2007 and failed to win either of the preseason tournaments, the Catalan league or the ACB Super Cup.

The XXVII Catalan League 2006-07 was won by Akasvayu Girona, who beat FC Barcelona (73-51) at the Fontajau Pavilion, where the Final Four was held. Girona, coached by former Barça boss Svetislav Pesic, had an easy ride against a Barça side that had little time to prepare.

Barça reached the final after beating Ricoh Manresa (76-75) in the semi-finals while in the other semi-final Akasvayu Girona beat DKV Joventut (90-75).

Super Cup semi-final exit

Winterthur FC Barcelona failed to reach the final of the ACB Super Cup after losing in the semi-finals to TAU Vitoria. A Barça team under construction could do nothing to stop a Basque side that showed superior preparation at the start of the season.

The game was decided in the first two quarters when an inspired TAU took a lead of 17 points: 37-20. In the second half, Barça were unable to stop TAU building up an even bigger lead, the final score standing at 76-52. The competition was won by current ACB champions Unicaja, who beat TAU in the final.
