La Fundació FC Barcelona and the Social Action and Citizenship Department of the Generalitat - the Catalan government – have agreed to promote actions together to encourage social inclusion of children at risk.
Club President Sandro Rosell and the Catalan minister for Social Action and Citizenship, Carme
Capdevila, signed the deal last Wednesday which involved an agreement to collaborate in promoting
the social inclusion of young children in a situation of risk. These programmes will be put into
place throughout Catalonia.
Financing the programmes
The signing of the agreement commits the Social Action and Citizenship Department
to support and promote the collaboration of local councils with the programmes which the Fundació
FC Barcelona targets for children at risk and their families. The programmes, which will be carried
out in accordance with the needs and priorities of both parts, will be primarily financed by the
Social Action and Citizenship Department via specific grants to the Fundació FC Barcelona.
Collaboration with children’s homes
At the same time, the Fundació FC Barcelona has committed itself to work with the
young children’s homes run by the Generalitat, organising competitions and sporting events
for the children and training carers at these centres so that they can help promote the use of
sport as a tool of social integration and normalisation in their institutions.
Campaign could visit Nou Camp
The agreement also includes a commitment on the part of the Fundació FC Barcelona to investigate
the possibility of promoting the ”Acolliment: un infant, un temps, una família”
campaign at the Nou Camp on a match day. The campaign, which is promoted by the Social Action and
Citizenship Department features an exhibition which has been displayed in the principal cities of
Cayalonia and has been visited by more than 50.000 people.
