Extra time

The Fundació del FC Barcelona, along with the Generalitat de Catalunya’s Department of Welfare and Family and The British Council have signed an agreement by which they will develop initiatives designed to improve the motivation and education of pupils with learning difficulties in ordinary schools, and at the same time, promote the use of the Catalan language.

This collaboration led to the setting up of the Temps Afegit (Extra Time) project. Very similar in design to those already set up by such English clubs as Manchester City and Liverpool, the programme consists of adapting and providing a classroom for use with groups of pupils, especially shared school units, curricular activities and personal development.
During April and July 2005, two groups of 15 boys and girls from the UEC in the Raval district of Barcelona and from Cornellà carried out a computer activity in La Masia as a pilot project of the same.

The programme will continue this year and is run in association with Carles Folguera, manager of La Masia.
